Ingredients
Scale
Steak
- 2 Ribeye Steaks (1 Inch Thick) – You can also use Strip Steaks or Sirloin Steaks
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
Shallot Herb Butter
- 8 oz Salted Butter (Softened)
- 1 Tbsp Shallot (Minced)
- 1 tsp Fresh Scallion or Chives (Finely Chopped)
Instructions
- Prepare the Steaks: Let the ribeye steaks sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to ensure even cooking. Pat each side dry with a clean paper towel to help achieve a better sear.
- Season and Oil: Brush olive oil over all sides of the steaks. Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly on both sides to season the meat. Set aside.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400℉ (204℃) for optimal cooking temperature.
- Cook the Steaks: Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the steaks in the basket in a single layer and set the timer for 10 minutes.
- Flip Halfway: After 5 minutes, carefully flip the steaks over to ensure even cooking on both sides. Continue cooking for the remaining 5 minutes.
- Check Temperature and Rest: Insert a food thermometer into the thickest part of the steak. If it reads between 125℉-130℉ (52℃-54℃), the steaks are medium-rare and ready to rest. Loosely cover the steaks with foil and let them rest for 5 to 10 minutes. The internal temperature should rise to 130℉-135℉ (54℃-57℃) during resting.
- Prepare Shallot Herb Butter: While the steaks are resting, combine the softened salted butter, minced shallot, and finely chopped scallions in a bowl. Mix thoroughly using a hand mixer or rubber spatula until well combined.
- Serve: Plate the rested steaks and top each with a generous dollop of the shallot herb butter. Enjoy your flavorful, tender air-fried steak!
Notes
- Allowing the steak to come to room temperature before cooking helps it cook more evenly.
- Drying the steak before seasoning ensures a better crust.
- Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the thickness of your steaks and your specific air fryer model.
- Use a meat thermometer to guarantee the desired level of doneness.
- Resting the steak after cooking is essential to retain juices and improve tenderness.
- Shallot herb butter can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- You can substitute scallions with fresh chives for a slightly different flavor profile.
