Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Additional
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan or spray it with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the milk, sour cream, egg, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix to avoid tough donuts.
- Fold in Blueberries: Carefully fold in the fresh or frozen blueberries evenly throughout the batter, maintaining their shape.
- Fill Donut Pan: Spoon the batter into the greased donut pan cavities, filling each about two-thirds full to allow room for rising.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh blueberries for the best texture, but frozen blueberries work well too—no need to thaw before adding.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the donuts light and fluffy.
- If you don’t have a donut pan, cupcake pans can be used as an alternative.
- Store the donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
- To reheat, warm in the oven or microwave briefly to enjoy a freshly baked taste.
