Ingredients
Scale
Cake
- 1 box Devil’s Food cake mix (plus ingredients required for the cake mix: typically eggs, oil, and water)
Frosting and Topping
- Chocolate frosting (store-bought or homemade, enough to frost 10 cupcakes)
- 10 Cadbury Caramel Eggs (frozen, unwrapped)
- 10 mini Cadbury Caramel Eggs
- Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners and lightly spritz them with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the devil’s food cake mix with the required ingredients called for on the box (usually eggs, oil, and water). Beat together until the batter is smooth and well blended.
- Fill Cupcake Liners: Using a large scoop or spoon, evenly divide the cake batter among the cupcake liners, filling each about halfway.
- Add Cadbury Eggs: Place one frozen, unwrapped Cadbury Caramel Egg into the center of the batter in each cupcake liner. The egg should sink slightly into the batter.
- Bake Cupcakes: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the side of the cupcake, near the edge (avoiding the center with the egg); it should come out clean when the cupcakes are done.
- Cool: Remove cupcakes from oven and allow them to cool for about 5 minutes in the pan. Then transfer them to a wire rack and cool completely before frosting.
- Frost Cupcakes: Pipe chocolate frosting onto each cupcake starting from the middle outward and then back to the center to create a decorative peak.
- Decorate: Press one mini Cadbury Caramel Egg into the peak of frosting on each cupcake. Add sprinkles if desired for extra festive flair.
Notes
- Freezing the Cadbury Eggs before baking helps them hold their shape and not melt entirely during baking.
- Do not pierce the center with a toothpick when testing doneness to avoid puncturing the melted caramel egg inside.
- Make sure cupcakes are completely cooled before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
- You can use homemade chocolate frosting or store-bought for convenience.
- Sprinkles are optional but add a fun decorative touch especially for seasonal or holiday themes.
