Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Nest Ingredients
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup butterscotch chips (optional for added flavor)
- 4 cups crispy chow mein noodles or pretzel sticks
- 1 cup mini candy-coated chocolate eggs or jelly beans
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips together by heating in 30-second intervals. Stir the mixture well between each interval until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
- Combine with Noodles: Gently fold in the crispy chow mein noodles into the melted chocolate, making sure all noodles are evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.
- Shape the Nests: Spoon heaping tablespoons of the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Shape each spoonful into a circular nest shape with a small indentation in the center to hold the candy eggs.
- Add Candy Eggs: While the nests are still soft, press 2 to 3 mini candy-coated chocolate eggs into the center of each nest carefully.
- Set the Nests: Allow the nests to cool and set at room temperature for about 1 hour, or speed up the process by refrigerating them for 20 to 30 minutes until firm.
- Serve: Once the nests are fully set and firm, serve immediately and enjoy your festive chocolate bird nests.
Notes
- You can substitute shredded coconut or crushed cornflakes for the chow mein noodles for a different texture.
- For added crunch and flavor, consider mixing in a handful of chopped peanuts or almonds.
