Description

Chocolate Bird Nests are delightful no-bake treats perfect for Easter or any spring celebration. Made with melted chocolate and crispy chow mein noodles, these nests are filled with colorful mini candy eggs, creating a fun and festive dessert that’s quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Nest Ingredients

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips (optional for added flavor)
  • 4 cups crispy chow mein noodles or pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup mini candy-coated chocolate eggs or jelly beans

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips together by heating in 30-second intervals. Stir the mixture well between each interval until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  2. Combine with Noodles: Gently fold in the crispy chow mein noodles into the melted chocolate, making sure all noodles are evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.
  3. Shape the Nests: Spoon heaping tablespoons of the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Shape each spoonful into a circular nest shape with a small indentation in the center to hold the candy eggs.
  4. Add Candy Eggs: While the nests are still soft, press 2 to 3 mini candy-coated chocolate eggs into the center of each nest carefully.
  5. Set the Nests: Allow the nests to cool and set at room temperature for about 1 hour, or speed up the process by refrigerating them for 20 to 30 minutes until firm.
  6. Serve: Once the nests are fully set and firm, serve immediately and enjoy your festive chocolate bird nests.

Notes

  • You can substitute shredded coconut or crushed cornflakes for the chow mein noodles for a different texture.
  • For added crunch and flavor, consider mixing in a handful of chopped peanuts or almonds.
