Description

Indulge in the rich and decadent flavors of this Chocolate Guinness Cake, a moist and fudgy dessert with a hint of stout. Topped with a creamy cream cheese frosting, it’s a perfect treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake:

  • 1 cup Guinness stout
  • 10 tablespoons (1 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • Pinch of salt

Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Guinness and butter: In a saucepan, combine Guinness and butter. Stir until the butter melts. Whisk in cocoa powder and sugar until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In a bowl, whisk sour cream, eggs, and vanilla. Add the Guinness mixture and mix well.
  4. Add dry ingredients: Sift in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir until just combined.
  5. Bake: Pour batter into pan and bake for 45–55 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool cake in the pan.
  6. Make frosting: Beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar. Slowly add heavy cream and beat until fluffy. Spread over the cooled cake.

Notes

  • This cake tastes even better the next day. Store in the fridge and bring to room temperature before serving.
  • You can opt for no frosting or use whipped cream as a lighter alternative.
