Ingredients
Scale
Truffle Base
- 10 vanilla Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
Coating and Decoration
- 12 oz almond bark or white chocolate candy melts
- Red food coloring
- Green sanding sugar
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and set aside.
- Crumble Cakes: In a mixing bowl, crumble the vanilla Christmas tree cakes into fine crumbs using your hands or a fork.
- Mix with Cream Cheese: Add the softened cream cheese to the crumbled cakes. Use a hand mixer to combine thoroughly until the mixture reaches a dough-like consistency that holds together.
- Form Balls and Freeze: Using a tablespoon-sized cookie scoop, form the mixture into balls. Place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet. Freeze for 30 minutes until firm to handle.
- Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the almond bark or white chocolate candy melts by heating in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each until smooth and fully melted.
- Dip Truffles: Remove the cake balls from the freezer one at a time and dip each into the melted chocolate, ensuring they are fully coated. Gently tap off any excess coating and return them to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Decorate: Drizzle red food coloring over the coated truffles in a festive pattern. Immediately sprinkle green sanding sugar on top before the coating sets, for a vibrant holiday decoration.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easier mixing.
- Freezing the cake balls before dipping helps the coating solidify quickly and creates a smoother finish.
- If you prefer, use colored candy melts to match holiday themes without additional decoration.
- Store truffles in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- Allow truffles to come to room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving for best flavor.
