Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 12 ounces bowtie pasta (farfalle)
Meat and Vegetables
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas
Seasonings and Liquids
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Cook the bowtie pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Brown Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 3 minutes.
- Season Beef: Season the beef mixture with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, stirring well to combine.
- Add Broth and Simmer: Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer, allowing the flavors to meld for about 5 minutes.
- Add Cream: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, bringing the mixture back to a simmer.
- Melt Cheese: Add the Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
- Add Peas: Stir in the frozen peas and continue cooking for another 2 minutes until the peas are heated through.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, stirring gently to coat the pasta with the creamy sauce and evenly distribute the beef.
- Garnish: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure not to overcook the pasta; al dente texture will hold up better in the sauce.
- For a lighter version, you can substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese will give the best flavor and texture.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes if you want a little heat.
- Use fresh parsley for garnish to enhance both flavor and presentation.
