- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 12 ounces cremini or button mushrooms (sliced)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
Additional Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup dry white wine or vegetable broth
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add shallot and sauté for 2 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Cook Mushrooms: Stir in sliced mushrooms, salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook for 8–10 minutes until browned and most moisture evaporates.
- Deglaze Pan: Pour in white wine or broth, simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Add Cream and Cheese: Lower heat, stir in cream and Parmesan. Cook for 3–4 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Adjust Seasoning and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- For a dairy-free version, use full-fat coconut milk and omit the Parmesan.
- This sauce pairs well with pasta, chicken, steak, or mashed potatoes.
- Use mixed mushrooms for deeper flavor.
