For the French Toast:
- 1 loaf brioche or challah bread (sliced 1-inch thick)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 5 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the Salted Caramel:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into pieces)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Prepare the French Toast: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan. Pour into the dish, add bread slices. Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, salt. Pour over bread, refrigerate.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the French toast for 35–40 minutes until golden.
- Make the Salted Caramel: Heat sugar in a saucepan until amber-colored. Add butter, cream, sea salt. Drizzle over baked French toast before serving.
