Ingredients

Scale

Cookies:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Halloween-colored M&M’s or candy-coated chocolates
  • 1/4 cup festive sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, dark cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Final additions: Fold in the dark chocolate chips and most of the Halloween M&M’s. Scoop the dough into balls and place on baking sheets.
  7. Bake: Press extra M&M’s and sprinkles on top of each cookie. Bake for 10–12 minutes until set.
  8. Cool and enjoy: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
