Description

Easy Bacon Bites are delicious mini appetizers made by wrapping cream cheese and chive-stuffed bread cylinders with crispy bacon. Perfect for parties or a savory snack, these tasty bites combine creamy, crispy, and fresh flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 loaf English Muffin Bread or Pepperidge Farm Original White Bread

Spread

  • 1 (12-ounce) tub reduced fat cream cheese spread
  • 1½ cups chopped fresh chives

Wrapping

  • 1 pound bacon (regular thickness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil to catch drippings and make cleanup easy.
  2. Prepare Bread: Cut the crusts off the slices of bread to create soft edges for rolling.
  3. Spread Cream Cheese and Chives: Using a knife or offset spreader, spread a thin layer of reduced fat cream cheese evenly over each bread slice, then sprinkle about ½ teaspoon of chopped fresh chives on top of the cream cheese for added flavor.
  4. Roll and Wrap with Bacon: Starting at one end, carefully roll each slice of bread into a tight cylinder. Wrap a slice of bacon spirally around each bread roll to cover it completely. Cut each bacon-wrapped cylinder in half using kitchen shears or a sharp knife.
  5. Bake to Crisp: Arrange the bacon-wrapped bites on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes. Bake until the bacon is crispy and cooked through. Serve these bites warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use regular thickness bacon for best wrapping and crispiness; thin bacon may tear, and thick bacon may take longer to cook.
  • You can adjust the amount of chives to your preference or substitute with finely chopped green onions for a different herbal kick.
  • Serving these bites warm ensures the bacon is crispy and the cream cheese is soft and flavorful.
  • To make cleanup easier, line the baking sheet with foil as directed to catch bacon grease.
  • This appetizer can be prepared ahead by assembling and rolling, then refrigerated before baking.
