Description

These Easy Pecan Pie Brownies combine rich, fudgy brownies with a luscious pecan pie topping for a decadent dessert that’s perfect for any occasion. Featuring a simple brownie base topped with a gooey, nutty pecan mixture, this recipe delivers the best of both worlds in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base

  • 1 box brownie mix
  • 2 eggs (or as required by mix)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or as required by mix)
  • 1/4 cup water (or as required by mix)

Pecan Pie Topping

  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup whole pecans (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven according to the brownie mix instructions and grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper to ensure easy removal and clean edges.
  2. Make Brownie Batter: Prepare the brownie batter using the mix, eggs, oil, and water as directed on the package, mixing until smooth and well combined.
  3. Bake Brownie Base: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 20 minutes until the top is just set but the center remains soft, creating the perfect base for the topping.
  4. Prepare Pecan Topping: While the brownies bake, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Then stir in the chopped pecans thoroughly.
  5. Add Topping to Brownies: Remove the partially baked brownies from the oven and carefully pour the pecan topping evenly over them. Optionally, decorate with whole pecans on top for added crunch and presentation.
  6. Finish Baking: Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 25–30 minutes until the topping is bubbly and mostly set, ensuring the pecan layer is perfectly cooked.
  7. Cool and Chill: Let the bars cool completely at room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours to allow cleaner slicing and to enhance flavors.

Notes

  • Using parchment paper helps in removing the bars easily without breaking.
  • The topping can be customized by adding a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
  • Chilling the brownies before slicing helps achieve clean, neat squares.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • For a gluten-free version, ensure the brownie mix used is certified gluten-free.
