Ingredients
Scale
Vanilla Syrup
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 vanilla bean (split down the middle)
- 1/2 tablespoon real vanilla extract
Iced Coffee
- 1/8 cup homemade vanilla syrup
- 1/4 cup Lactaid Whole Milk
- 1 cup strongly brewed coffee (chilled)
- 2 cups ice
Instructions
- Make the Vanilla Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the water, granulated sugar, dark brown sugar, and the split vanilla bean. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugars dissolve completely. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes to infuse the vanilla flavor, then remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and allow the syrup to cool. Remove and discard the vanilla bean before using.
- Prepare the Iced Coffee: In a glass, add the ice cubes followed by the chilled strongly brewed coffee. Pour in 1/8 cup of the homemade vanilla syrup and 1/4 cup of Lactaid Whole Milk. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly for a creamy, flavorful iced coffee.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of vanilla syrup based on your desired sweetness.
- Using Lactaid milk makes the drink lactose-free without compromising creaminess.
- Strongly brewed coffee is essential to ensure the flavor stands out even when iced.
- The homemade vanilla syrup can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- For a vegan alternative, substitute the Lactaid Whole Milk with almond or oat milk.
