Description

These Garlic Bread Muffins are a delightful twist on classic garlic bread, featuring a soft breadstick dough filled with a creamy garlic herb cheese spread and a blend of melted cheeses. Perfectly baked to golden brown perfection, they make an irresistible appetizer or side dish that’s easy to prepare and sure to please.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese Filling

  • 1 5.2 ounce package garlic herb cheese spread (like Boursin), room temperature
  • ¾ cup shredded Colby-Jack cheese
  • ¾ cup shredded Italian cheese blend

Bread & Coating

  • 1 11 ounce tube refrigerated breadsticks (like Pillsbury French Bread)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Muffin Tin: Heat oven to 375°F and grease or spray a muffin tin with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Shredded Cheeses: In a medium bowl, combine the Colby-Jack cheese and Italian cheese blend, tossing gently to mix evenly.
  3. Prepare Dough: Unroll the breadstick dough on a lightly floured surface, pressing perforations to seal. Roll it out into a 12×8-inch rectangle and then cut it lengthwise in half to create two long rectangles.
  4. Spread Cream Cheese: Evenly spread the garlic herb cheese spread over each dough rectangle, leaving a ¼-inch border around the edges.
  5. Add Shredded Cheese: Sprinkle the mixed shredded cheeses evenly over the cream cheese on each dough rectangle.
  6. Roll the Dough: Starting from the long sides, carefully roll each rectangle up jelly-roll style. Pinch the seams to seal the rolls securely.
  7. Slice Rolls: Cut each roll into 1½-inch thick slices to form individual muffins.
  8. Prepare Coatings: Pour the lightly beaten egg into one small bowl and the shredded Parmesan into another small bowl.
  9. Coat Slices: Dip the cut side of each slice into the beaten egg, then immediately press it into the shredded Parmesan to coat.
  10. Arrange in Muffin Tin: Place each coated slice, cheese side up, into the prepared muffin tin cups.
  11. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes until the muffins are golden brown and cooked through.
  12. Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese spread is at room temperature for easy spreading.
  • Press dough perforations firmly to prevent the cheese from leaking during baking.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the rolls cleanly for evenly sized muffins.
  • Serve warm for the best taste and softness.
  • These muffins can be reheated in the oven or microwave if made ahead.
