Slider Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 1 pound sliced ham
- 8 ounces sliced Swiss cheese
Topping Sauce
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
- 1 tablespoon honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking the sliders.
- Prepare rolls: Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the rolls connected so they stay in one piece.
- Layer the bottom rolls: Place the bottom halves of the sliced rolls in a baking dish to form the base layer.
- Add ham layer: Evenly layer the sliced ham over the bottom halves of the rolls.
- Add cheese layer: Place the sliced Swiss cheese on top of the ham, covering the entire surface.
- Replace top rolls: Place the top halves of the Hawaiian rolls back over the cheese layer.
- Prepare topping sauce: In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Mix sauce ingredients: Stir in the Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, dried minced onion, and honey into the melted butter until well combined.
- Coat the rolls: Pour the butter mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls, making sure to cover all the surface.
- Cover the sliders: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil to keep moisture in during baking.
- Bake covered: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to warm the sliders and melt the cheese.
- Bake uncovered for browning: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and slightly crisp.
- Cool slightly: Remove the sliders from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before slicing.
- Slice and serve: Separate the sliders by slicing between the rolls and serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Keep the Hawaiian rolls connected when slicing for easy assembly and serving.
- You can substitute Swiss cheese with provolone or cheddar for different flavors.
- Adjust the amount of honey in the topping sauce to balance sweetness and tang.
- For an extra crispy top, broil for 1–2 minutes after baking, watching closely to avoid burning.
- These sliders can be prepared in advance and baked right before serving to save time.
