- 1/4 pound turkey
- 1/4 pound provolone cheese
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated
Grinder Salad Dressing & Vegetables
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Pepper, to taste
- 1/2 head iceberg lettuce, shredded finely
- 1/2 red onion, sliced thinly
- 1/3 cup banana peppers, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the dressing: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined to create the flavorful base of the grinder salad.
- Mix the vegetables: Add shredded iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced red onion, and banana peppers into the dressing mixture. Toss well to evenly coat the vegetables.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Slice the sub rolls open and evenly divide salami, pepperoni, turkey, and provolone cheese among them, layering the meats and cheese inside each roll.
- Broil the sandwiches: Place the assembled sandwiches on a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 2-3 minutes, just until the cheese melts and the meats become slightly crisp. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.
- Add fresh tomatoes: Remove the sandwiches from the oven and layer fresh tomato slices on top of the melted cheese and meats.
- Add grinder salad and cheese: Generously spoon the prepared grinder salad onto each sandwich and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese for an extra burst of flavor.
- Close and serve: Close the sandwiches, press gently, and serve immediately while warm for the best taste and texture experience.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the grinder salad.
- Substitute provolone cheese with mozzarella or fontina if preferred.
- Use fresh sub rolls with a sturdy crust to hold all the fillings without becoming soggy.
- Broiling time may vary depending on your oven, watch closely to prevent burning.
- Leftover grinder salad can be stored separately in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
