Description

Crispy and flavorful Jalapeno Popper Egg Rolls filled with a creamy mixture of cream cheese, cheddar, jalapeños, bacon, and green onions. Perfect as a party appetizer or snack, these egg rolls are fried to golden perfection and served hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 fresh jalapeños, finely diced
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Wrapper

  • 12 egg roll wrappers

For Frying

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola), approximately 2 inches deep

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, finely diced jalapeños, crumbled cooked bacon, thinly sliced green onions, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix everything together until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
  2. Assemble the egg rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface in a diamond shape. Place about 2 tablespoons of the cheese and jalapeño filling in the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, then fold in both sides, and tightly roll up the wrapper. Seal the edge with a little water to hold it closed.
  3. Heat the oil: Pour enough vegetable or canola oil into a deep skillet or pot to reach about 2 inches in depth. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C) for optimal frying temperature.
  4. Fry the egg rolls: Carefully place the egg rolls into the hot oil in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry each egg roll for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  5. Drain and serve: Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the fried egg rolls from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve the egg rolls hot with dipping sauces such as ranch, chipotle mayo, or sweet chili sauce for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to make mixing easier.
  • Adjust the number of jalapeños based on your spice preference.
  • Do not overcrowd the frying pan to maintain oil temperature and crispiness.
  • For a healthier version, consider baking the egg rolls at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through.
  • Use gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid irritation.
  • Make sure to seal the egg rolls properly to prevent filling leakage during frying.
