Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Magic Cookie Bars featuring a buttery graham cracker crust layered with sweetened condensed milk, semisweet chocolate chips, coconut flakes, and chopped nuts. These bars are perfect for a sweet treat or dessert at gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Cake Filling

  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1â…“ cups flaked sweetened coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) or if using a glass baking dish, set it to 325°F (165°C) for even baking.
  2. Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or foil and lightly coat it with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Make the Crust: Combine the graham cracker crumbs with melted butter in a bowl until fully moistened. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust layer.
  4. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the graham cracker crust, ensuring full coverage.
  5. Layer the Toppings: Sprinkle the semisweet chocolate chips evenly over the milk layer, then add the flaked sweetened coconut on top, followed by the chopped nuts.
  6. Set the Layers: Gently press down on the layered toppings using the back of a spatula to compact them slightly.
  7. Bake: Place the pan in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and bubbly.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper or foil. Cut into 24 bars and serve.

Notes

  • For a glass baking dish, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) to prevent over-browning.
  • You can substitute walnuts or pecans based on personal preference or availability.
  • Ensure the bars are completely cooled before cutting to maintain clean edges.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
