Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Oreo Balls, combining crushed Oreo cookies and cream cheese, coated in rich semi-sweet and white baking chocolate. Perfect bite-sized truffles for parties or a sweet treat any time.

Ingredients

Scale

Oreos and Filling

  • 19.1 ounces Oreo cookies (541 grams, divided, about 1 package)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (227 grams, room temperature, 1 brick)

Chocolate Coating

  • 8 ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate (227 grams, 1 package, high-quality like Ghirardelli)
  • 8 ounces white baking chocolate (227 grams, 1 package)

Instructions

  1. Crush Cookies for Sprinkling: Crush 9 Oreo cookies into crumbs using a food processor or blender, then set these crumbs aside in a bowl to use later for sprinkling on the truffles.
  2. Crush Remaining Oreos: Crush the remaining Oreo cookies to fine crumbs to prepare for mixing with cream cheese.
  3. Combine Oreo Crumbs and Cream Cheese: In a large bowl, add the Oreo crumbs and cream cheese, then beat together with a hand mixer until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Chill the Mixture: Refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour, or freeze it for at least 20 minutes, to firm up so it is easier to shape into balls.
  5. Form Oreo Balls: Using a cookie portion scoop or spoon, scoop roughly 2 tablespoons of the chilled mixture and roll it into a ball with your hands.
  6. Melt the Chocolate: Separate the semi-sweet and white baking chocolate into two different bowls, then melt each in the microwave following package directions, stirring to smooth.
  7. Dip Oreo Balls in Chocolate: Using a fork, dip each Oreo ball into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess chocolate to drip off before placing it onto a lined baking sheet.
  8. Sprinkle with Reserved Crumbs: Sprinkle some or all of the coated Oreo balls with the reserved Oreo crumbs for decoration and extra flavor.
  9. Chill Until Firm: Place the baking sheet with chocolate-coated Oreo balls in the refrigerator to chill until the chocolate is set and firm.
  10. Optional Chocolate Drizzle: If desired, drizzle extra melted chocolate over the top of the truffles for added decoration and flavor.

Notes

  • Using room temperature cream cheese ensures easier mixing and smoother texture.
  • Chilling the mixture is crucial to making firm truffles that hold their shape when dipped.
  • Reserve some Oreo crumbs for garnish to add texture and an attractive look.
  • Use high-quality baking chocolate for best flavor and smooth coating.
  • Store Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within one week for optimal freshness.
